The Color Run of Bogota

Today was going to be a quiet Sunday. But then we heard about The Color Run 5k and decided to go and have a look around. What started as a quiet stroll turned into the happiest experience here in Bogota. I am so glad I had my camera with me because it was an event only best describe through pictures. We arrived at the race to find thousands of extremely happy runners covered in a rainbow of colors dancing their way toward the finish line. Along the way, an array of colourful powder continously rained down on them while a live DJ helped fuel the vibrancy with pumping music. It was the ultimate dance party on a very early Sunday morning out on the streets of Bogota. The energy was immense and the happy runners were infectious. That is why this race is also known as the "Happiest 5k on the planet". The event was founded in January of 2012 by Travis Snyder, an event producer in the U.S. to promote healthy living, happiness, and individuality. Today, it has more than 1 million participants worldwide. There is a registration fee and funds are being donated to various charities including the Global Poverty Project. For those who missed today's race, there will be another one on November 17 here in Bogota so go to colorrun.com.co for more info. Otherwise, the official web site is colorrun.com and it has all the dates and locations for upcoming races in the U.S. or shall I say, street parties!!! I have to tell you, it was an event not to be missed, either as a participant or an observer.
